1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture legs. They also have carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to change the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best rated robot vacuum robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, robot hoover shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robot autonomous vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score 100% in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty these areas are.

For larger houses it's worth looking for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your home via the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot automatic vacuum and mop robot to continue from where it left off could be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
