World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. They can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be applied to devices that have slots. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before the component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. When the player upgrades an item, the base item level upgrade is replaced with a new item level upgrade of the same kind. The same armor will be upgraded to an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own bonus. This could be a disadvantage in that the item upgrader mod could become more expensive even if you don't require it.

If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. The item upgrade will be replaced with a brand new one that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be beneficial however it shouldn't be done often as it could waste resources.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade.
