Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet messes (spills, staining) in one go without having to swap out devices. They can also save space compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot must be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacles avoidance. Find models that automatically empty their bins and refill their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads using the dock that is specifically designed for them.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's among the easiest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you up and running with a clean, full dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in no time at all.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to take away pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, as well as a selection of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app which lets you choose the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.

For instance, you can choose to have the robot do a deep clean in the living and kitchen areas but take it easy in the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and its smart navigation technology are also excellent as the robot is capable of detecting small obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. The only drawback is that the robot tends to hit walls and objects at full speed. However looking at the history of cleaning on the app will show you exactly what the robot accomplished, where it's going, and which obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.

A handy LCD screen on the docking station shows you when maintenance jobs are required, such as emptying the debris tray and washing the water tank that is dirty. It's also able to mix detergent automatically into the water tank, using a 600ml bottle of eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long running time. The mop can operate for robots that vacuum and mop 184 mins in Quiet Mode, and the vacuum can last 136 mins in normal mode, prior to having to recharge or returning to the base. You can also view the full cleaning details in the app, which is clearly laid out and is easy to comprehend although we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a vacuum only or mop and vacuum clean when looking at a clean area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's flagship robot mop and vacuum. In contrast to the model of last year, this one features two agitators in its mopping pad which significantly improves its carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power that allows it to pick up finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners might miss.

This Roborock model, just like the other two models I tested it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it get around obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by having a dual camera that can detect objects and determine whether they're a wall or another surface. It then can alter its path in a way that is automatic and clean around them without stumbling.

It's the most expensive model I've tried and it comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular design is eye catching and only has three physical buttons. The power button, which restarts the cleaning mop button, which doubles up as a child-lock and a home-button that can bring the robot vacuum best to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml tank of water. The water tank automatically emptys and the bin fills up automatically.

The only issue I have discovered with this model was that its VibraRise mop pad mount isn't removable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if needed), it's a pain to remove the mount itself to wash manually. I've observed that any soft carpet the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, and can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a variety of smart features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can configure and manage these via the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor the life of batteries and maintenance on components. You'll need to go through a series of steps to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors, and skip carpeted areas, or reverse the process. It can be controlled via the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is easy to use and understand and the X40 comes with a variety of smart features that are easy to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at certain times. They can also adjust suction power, change modes, look at maps and floor plans, and control mopping settings. The X40 will also monitor its progress and notify you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy-to-maintain and offers numerous convenient features, making it a perfect option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the trash bin into a 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, and refills them with fresh water and cleaning robot mop and vacuum solution. It can also tell when the mop pad is filled and alert you before it overflows, thus reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. It has several features that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub, which is a new feature of its mops, uses two mop heads with high-speed motors to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a suction force of 7,000Pa. This is higher than Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, small dirt particles, and clean up spills and soiled spots.

The mops are also dried and cleaned inside the base station after every use. This feature is great because it stops mould and unpleasant odours from building up in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. It's a system that has yet to be seen on other robot vacuum and mop models and could be a great method to keep your home hygienic for longer.
