WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also added to each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item upgrader mod has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item upgrader mod is upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with several new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain item level upgrade level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will cost less even if they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade items. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you should know that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another important modification is that crests have one use therefore it's essential to make use of them in a responsible manner. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
