WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item upgrading that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which displays an image of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. After an Item Level Upgrade has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will be less expensive, even when they are part of another set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a variety of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrades upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade items for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important modification is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to use them wisely. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
