Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment can be superior to modernized Common or Magic gear due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They increase the stats of whatever item upgrader mod they are connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Additionally, they can be salvaged from items with upgrade components in them using an expert or greater salvage kit.

The amount of damage an armored item upgrader or weapon will absorb is contingent on the degree of upgrades. The ability to absorb damage of an armor piece will increase as it is upgraded to the highest upgrade items level. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be heavier.

There are a variety of armor upgrade available in the game. Each one has a distinct impact. Certain upgrades grant armor a greater number of health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item can get is indicated by the name of the upgrade, as indicated in the table below.

Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without damaging the original. However you can only swap out one jewel in an equipment piece once.

It is normal to use more jewels to enhance the appearance of. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels create a surface that is harder than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the look of your weapons and shields. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be traded, but they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits or aegis cannot be swapped, and can only be recovered with an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage.

Trinkets

Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that provide an array of tiny but valuable benefits to your hero. They can be obtained in the starter areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and by completing road interactions. They may also be crafted by jewelers and later found or purchased on the Trading Post.

The first trinket players will unlock is the cloak. It provides a tiny but valuable boost in movement speed and the ability to escape. Then, they can purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar manner to the way a player can acquire weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.

These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't fighting. This allows the hero to perform better when they are not active, and can also help fill in the void of a strong team or any slots in the talent tree which would normally be filled with hero's ideal statistics.

In general, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace soon. Then, you should consider any items with desirable stats that are less significant than the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple stats on an item upgrader mod. It is more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat rather than two suboptimal ones.

In the beginning of the game, players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their yellow trinket to a red, while top and middle players typically choose a green or pink ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's ability to control his map.

Aside from the things mentioned above, players can also find other trinkets throughout the game in the form of trophies and awards.
