Commercial driver's licenses are classified into three categories or classes depending on the kind of vehicles they allow drivers operate. The class B license permits drivers to drive single vehicles with a weight of 26,001 pounds or greater and small trailers.

Cost

There are additional charges that are required to obtain the class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) in addition to the truck driving training. These costs vary depending on the location and training requirements. Typically training programs for this license cost between $1,500 and $3,500, and include instruction in the classroom, behind-the-wheel education along with practice tests and the CDL skills test.

This licence allows drivers to drive vehicles with a maximum authorized mass of 3,500kg and trailers that have the maximum weight of 750kg. This licence allows drivers to drive vehicles with trailers that weigh over 750kg, but no more than 3,500kg in conjunction with other vehicles of Category B or C.
